Wie die meisten ihrer Vorgänger wohnt die Gemeindevorsteherin über der Schwanenhalle, mit einem schönen Blick auf die Paulskirche. 1405 kaufte der Stadtrat die Gebäude am Römer vom Kaufmann Kunz für „800 Gulden guter Frankfurter Währung in bar“. Im Laufe der Jahre kamen neun Gebäude und mehrere Innenhöfe hinzu, um den heutigen Römer-Komplex zu bilden.
