María Mayor Fernández de Cámara y Pita, bekannt als María Pita, war 1589 eine galizische Heldin bei der Verteidigung von Corunna, Nordspanien, gegen die englische Counter Armada.
Am 4. Mai 1589 durchbrochen englische Streitkräfte, die bereits die Kontrolle über die Unterstadt hatten, die Verteidigung der Altstadt. Maria Pita half ihrem Mann, einem Armeekapitän, der die Verteidigung besetzte, als er von einem Armbrust getötet wurde, der ihm in den Kopf traf. Ein englischer Soldat mit einem Banner, der sich auf den Weg zum höchsten Teil der Mauer machte, wurde von Pita getötet. Sie erschien selbst auf den Höhen der Mauer und rief: Quen teña honra, que me siga („Wer auch immer Ehre hat, folgt mir!“) woraufhin der englische Einfall von den Verteidigern zurückgetrieben wurde.
