Die Exeter Racecourse ist die prestigeträchtigste Pferderennbahn des Südwestens. Sie liegt hoch auf dem Gipfel des Haldon Hill, etwas außerhalb von Exeter, mit herrlichem Blick hinunter nach Dartmoor. Mit 850 Fuß ist sie die höchste Rennbahn des Landes, mit 2 Meilen die zweitlängste und wurde nicht nur als eine der schönsten, sondern auch als eine der schönsten Strecken des Landes beschrieben. Pferderennen wurden hier vor 350 Jahren in der Regierungszeit von Charles II zum ersten Mal aufgezeichnet und seitdem haben viele große nationale Jagdmeister ihre Karriere in Exeter begonnen — wie Best Mate und Desert Orchid.
