1711 war es Königin Anne, die zum ersten Mal das Potenzial für eine Pferderennbahn in East Cote erkannte und erklärte, dass dies ein idealer Ort für Pferde sei, um beim Reiten „auf voller Strecke zu galoppieren“. Her Majesty's Plate, das 100 Guineen wert ist und allen Pferden, Stuten oder Wallachen über sechs Jahren offensteht, fand am 11. August statt. Jedes Pferd musste ein Gewicht von 12 tragen und sieben Läufer nahmen teil. Das Rennen bestand aus drei separaten Läufen, die vier Meilen lang waren (jeder Lauf war ungefähr so lang wie der Grand National), sodass der Gewinner ein Pferd mit enormer Ausdauer gewesen wäre.
