Es ist eines der letzten verbliebenen Anwesen Europas im „Le Style Rothschild“ und zeugt von den glorreichen Tagen der Familie Rothschild — und all das verkörpert Gastfreundschaft. Baron Ferdinand de Rothschild wurde von Gabriel-Hippolyte Destailleur entworfen und zwischen 1874 und 1885 erbaut. Er baute Waddesdon als Wochenendtrip, um Freunde und Familie zu unterhalten und seine außergewöhnliche Kunstsammlung auszustellen. Ferdinands Partys von Samstag bis Montag, bei denen außergewöhnliches Essen und Wein serviert wurden, wurden legendär. Zu den Gästen gehörten Könige, Politiker und berühmte Künstler und Literaten.
