Das Amphitheater ist eines der großen architektonischen Meisterwerke der antiken griechischen Stadt Halikarnassos, dem heutigen Bodrum. Es stammt aus dem 4. Jahrhundert vor Christus und der Regierungszeit von König Mausolos. In der Blütezeit der Arena hatte sie eine Kapazität von rund 13.000 Zuschauern und wurde hauptsächlich für Gladiatorenkämpfe und Theateraufführungen genutzt. Während der Sommermonate finden im Amphitheater eine Reihe von Konzerten lokaler und internationaler Musiker statt.

Mausoleum von Halikarnassos, Halikarnassos buchstabierte auch Halikarnassos, eines der Sieben Weltwunder. Das Denkmal war das Grab von Mausolus, dem Herrscher von Karien, im Südwesten Kleinasiens. Es wurde in seiner Hauptstadt Halikarnassos zwischen etwa 353 und 351 v. Chr. von seiner Schwester und Witwe Artemisia II erbaut. Das Gebäude wurde von den griechischen Architekten Pythius (Quellen schreiben den Namen unterschiedlich, was Zweifel an seiner Identität aufkommen lässt) und Satyros entworfen. Die Skulpturen, die es schmückten, waren das Werk von vier führenden griechischen Künstlern — Scopas, Bryaxis, Leochares und (höchstwahrscheinlich) Timotheus —, von denen jeder für eine einzelne Seite verantwortlich war.
