Seit der Eröffnung seines neuen Veranstaltungsortes im Jahr 2016 hat das Museum fast 16 Millionen Besucher begrüßt. Es bietet drei Dauerausstellungen: „Die Brokatstadt in voller Blüte: Geschichte und Kultur von Chengdu (Ancient Times, Recent Historical Period, and Folk Customs)“, „Shadow Play and Puppetry of China“ und „Man and Nature: Donations from Kenneth E. Behring“. Die Sammlung umfasst fast 300.000 historische Artefakte, Schattenpuppen, Meisterwerke moderner und zeitgenössischer Malerei und Kalligraphie sowie andere kulturelle Relikte, die von der Jungsteinzeit bis zur Republik China reichen.
