Der Kölner Dom ist eine römisch-katholische Kirche in Köln, Deutschland. Der Bau des Kölner Doms begann 1248 und dauerte mit Unterbrechungen bis 1880. Mit den beiden etwa 157 m hohen Türmen ist der Kölner Dom eine der größten Kirchen der Welt. 1996 wurde die Kathedrale in die Liste des UNESCO-Weltkulturerbes der kulturell wichtigen Stätten aufgenommen. Besucher können 509 Stufen der Wendeltreppe zu einer Aussichtsplattform erklimmen, die etwa 98 Meter über dem Boden liegt. Als Weltkulturerbe und mit seiner günstigen Lage hat es jedes Jahr mehr als 6 Millionen Besucher.
