Die Olivenhaine der Region gehören zu den ältesten auf Kreta. Sie liegen auf dem Hügel von Kritsa und erstrecken sich von der Mirabello-Bucht bis zu einer Höhe von 700 Metern

Das antike Lato wurde etwa 200 v. Chr. zerstört.
