About us

Newbattle Abbey war ursprünglich ein mittelalterliches Zisterzienserkloster und blickt auf eine 900-jährige Geschichte zurück, in der es königliche und privilegierte Gäste willkommen heißt. Es liegt nicht weit vom Stadtzentrum von Edinburgh entfernt und bietet 125 Hektar ruhige Parklandschaft am Ufer des Flusses Esk. Dieses einzigartige, historische Gebäude ist der perfekte Ort für Tagungen oder Konferenzen mit bis zu 120 Sitzplätzen im Theaterstil, Galadinner für bis zu 88 Personen und Getränkeempfänge für bis zu 285 Gäste. Einzigartiger Veranstaltungsort Sechs herrliche Veranstaltungsräume, alle mit Blick auf das umliegende Gelände, zeugen von feinster Handwerkskunst. Die reich verzierte Freskendecke des großen Drawing Rooms ist ein atemberaubendes Beispiel für die Arbeit des Edinburgher Architekten Thomas Bonnar. Das Zwischengeschoss ist mit originalen Kunstwerken geschmückt und bietet eine inspirierende Kulisse für Getränkeempfänge. Für größere Gruppen kann es mit mehreren anderen Räumen kombiniert werden. Faszinierende Geschichte Schottlands Zukunft wurde in der Abtei geprägt, als hier die Erklärung von Abroath verfasst wurde. Jedes Zimmer hat eine Geschichte: das Taufbecken in der Kapelle, das vermutlich zur Taufe von Mary Queen of Scots verwendet wurde, die geheime Treppe und die gewölbte Krypta.
