Der venezianische Turm ist eine der interessantesten und schönsten historischen Verteidigungsanlagen in Durrës. Es ist ein integraler Bestandteil der byzantinischen Festung von Durrës, die zum Kulturdenkmal erster Kategorie erklärt wurde. Es galt einst als eines der beeindruckendsten Verteidigungsbauten an der Westküste der Adria. Die heutige Festung geht auf die ersten Bauarbeiten des byzantinischen Kaisers Anastasius I. (491—518) zurück, der aus Durrës (dem alten Dyrrhachium) stammte. Der venezianische Turm wurde um das 15. Jahrhundert auf den Überresten des byzantinischen Turms erbaut und mit Kanonen befestigt, um die Stadt vor dem Meer zu schützen. Es wurde speziell für die Bewaffnung mit Artillerie konzipiert und diente als wichtiger Beobachtungspunkt für die Überwachung der Umgebung. Im Jahr 2 wurde der Venezianische Turm renoviert und in das erste Interpretationszentrum für das albanische Kulturerbe umgewandelt. Jetzt können Besucher historische Ereignisse und Orte mithilfe modernster digitaler und multimedialer Tools erkunden. Dazu gehören VR-Headsets, Audioguides, Kuppel-Multimediaprojektionen und andere Aktivitäten, die Unterhaltung mit einem tieferen Einblick in die antike Geschichte der Stadt verbinden.

Dies ist das größte und wichtigste Amphitheater auf dem Balkan, das zu Beginn des 1. Jahrhunderts nach Christus erbaut wurde. Es enthält bemerkenswerte funktionale und strukturelle architektonische Merkmale, die in Albanien einzigartig sind. Systematische Ausgrabungen begannen 1966, und bis heute wurde die Hälfte des Denkmals ausgegraben. Das Amphitheater befindet sich im Zentrum der Stadt; die westliche Höhle ist in den Hang gebaut, während sich die gegenüberliegende Seite aus flachem Grund erhebt. Das Amphitheater hat eine elliptische Form mit einem Durchmesser von 136 Metern. Die Höhe der Höhle, von der Basis aus gemessen, beträgt 20 Meter. Die Sitzkapazität lag zwischen 15.000 und 20.000 Zuschauern. Diese Ebenen waren mit weißen Platten bedeckt. Gladiatoren kämpften in der Arena. In Bezug auf die Konstruktion beruhte die Höhle des Amphitheaters auf einem System von Steingewölben, das das gesamte Bauwerk umgab. Die Pracht und die technische Leistung dieses Amphitheaters zeugen von der Blüte der Stadt Durrës in den ersten Jahrhunderten nach Christus. Nach sozialen und wirtschaftlichen Veränderungen nach dem 4. Jahrhundert funktionierte das Amphitheater von Durrës nicht mehr als solches. In einer seiner Galerien wurde im 10. Jahrhundert eine byzantinische Kapelle errichtet, deren Wände mit Mosaiken geschmückt sind, die verschiedene Figuren darstellen.
