About us
Deep in the heart of the South-Icelandic countryside but only 100 km east of our nation’s capital, the village of Fludir is home to The Hill Hotel. In its peaceful spot, you’re well out of the hustle-bustle of city life but can easily reach it when you want it. Situated within the Golden Circle of Gulfoss Waterfall, Geysir Hot Springs and Thingvellir Parliament, it’s right where you want to be for hiking and sightseeing. Accommodating up to 80 people, our brand new conference centre provides superb business-related facilities. On top of that, there’s space for another 320 visitors in meeting rooms both in and around the hotel.

Gullfoss is actually two separate waterfalls, the upper one has a drop of 11 metres and the lower one 21 metres. The rock of the river bed was formed during an interglacial period.
Water flows over Gullfoss at an average rate of 109 cubic metres per second.
The heaviest floods have recorded a flow of 2000 cubic metres per second.
During the summer the flow is 130 cubic metres per second, which would take only 3 seconds to fill this building.
People were eager to exploit the power potential of Gullfoss and many plans for hydroelectric developments on the river Hvítá have been proposed.

Farmers Bistro

Farmers Bistro is located in the beautiful surroundings of Flúðir which has been a popular destination for domestic and foreign tourists as there is always great weather here.
The municipal area is home to 800 people, smack dab in the middle of the Golden Circle
Farmers Bistro was founded by Georg and Emma in order to offer food from the region. Georg operates two firms;
FLÚÐASVEPPIR, THE ONLY MUSHROOM FARM IN ICELAND
and one of the largest horticulture farm called Flúða-Jörfi.
Flúðasveppir produces both white and chestnut mushrooms, and at Flúða-Jörfi, we grow bell-peppers and tomatoes in greenhouses. At Georg’s farm, Hvítárholt, Flúða-Jörfi also cultivates cauliflowers, broccoli, cabbage, red cabbage, kale and carrots outdoors. We also grow the fresh herbs used at Farmers Bistro.

Secret Lagoon natural hot springs are located in the small village called Fludir and are in the Golden Circle area. We have kept it natural and unique for our guests so they can get the true Icelandic feeling. The pool’s natural surroundings and steam rising into the air gives the place a magical feeling.
The warm water stays at 38-40 Celsius all year. In the whole area there are several geothermal spots and a little Geysir which erupts every 5 minutes, showing off for the guests relaxing in the hot spring.
During winter, the northern lights often give a great lightshow above Secret Lagoon. What better way to view the spectacular light show overhead than relaxing in the pool’s warm water?
