Ataköy Baruthanesi, bekannt als Baruthane-i Amire, wurde 1700 als fünfte und auch größte und modernste Schießpulverfabrik im osmanischen Istanbul in Betrieb genommen. Die Anlage wurde während der Selim, der 3. Periode, renoviert und um Anbauten wie das Hünkar-Herrenhaus erweitert. Baruthane, das während der republikanischen Zeit der Verwaltung der Militärfabriken übertragen wurde, wurde später 1955 an die Machinery and Chemical Industry Corporation übergeben. Zwei Jahre nach dem Transfer begannen die Ataköy-Blöcke rund um den Campus zu entstehen, und Baruthane wurde 1972 entsprechend den sich ändernden Bedürfnissen der Region mit dem Betrieb der Ataköy Touristic Facilities beauftragt.

Kevin was a standout alto saxophonist in elementary and middle school, then switched to tenor sax as an adult. Inspired by BB King’s killer horn section, Kevin began honing his skills playing the blues.
