Ihre Ruinen stammen hauptsächlich aus dem 4. Jahrhundert vor Christus. Sein Name leitet sich von Leto (dorischer Typus von Lato) ab, der Mutter von Apollo und Artemis. Das antike Lato wurde etwa 200 v. Chr. zerstört.
