Hoch auf dem Berg Moburi von Lhasa hat der Potala-Palast die Ehre, der höchste antike Palast der Welt zu sein. Sein höchster Punkt erreicht über 3.700 m über dem Meeresspiegel. Es gehört zum UNESCO-Weltkulturerbe und wurde in der Tang-Dynastie des 7. Jahrhunderts v. Chr. während der Regierungszeit von König Songtsan Gampo von Tibet erbaut und gilt für viele Tibeter als heilige Stätte. Dieser 13-stöckige Palast wurde als Geschenk von König Songtsan Gampo an seine zukünftige Braut erbaut und erstreckt sich über 130.000 Quadratmeter.
