Die Festung Guia wurde 1622-1638 erbaut und befindet sich auf dem Gipfel des Guia-Hügels, dem höchsten Punkt Macaus. Es wurde entworfen, um Macau vor Angriffen vom Meer aus zu schützen, aber aufgrund seiner Lage mit Blick auf die gesamte Stadt war sein Hauptwert als Beobachtungsposten. Es enthielt ursprünglich eine Kaserne, eine Wasserzisterne, Munitions- und Ausrüstungslager, das Kommandantenhaus und eine Kapelle, die Unserer Lieben Frau von Guia gewidmet war. Heute ist das Wahrzeichen des Forts der Leuchtturm, der 1864 erbaut wurde und der älteste an der chinesischen Küste ist. Es ist 15 Meter hoch und hat ein Licht, das bei klarem Wetter etwa 20 Meilen weit sichtbar ist. In der Nähe des Leuchtturms befindet sich die Kapelle, die ein Bild der Jungfrau Maria, einige antike Bilder und Überreste von Gemälden enthält, die auf den Bau der Kapelle im Jahr 1622 zurückgehen. In der Nähe befindet sich auch ein Posten, an dem Signale gehisst werden, um vor einem herannahenden Taifun zu warnen. In früheren Zeiten wurden Sturmwarnungen vom Glockenturm der Kapelle aus angekündigt.
