Notre-Dame de Reims ist eines der wichtigsten gotischen Bauwerke Europas. Die Kathedrale aus dem 13. Jahrhundert gehört zum Weltkulturerbe und weist ganz eigene Merkmale auf, insbesondere ihre Beleuchtung, Statuen und ihren einheitlichen Stil. Notre-Dame verfügt über eine außergewöhnlich reiche Statuen. Die Kathedrale ist mit 2.303 Statuen geschmückt, darunter der berühmte lächelnde Engel, dessen fröhlicher Ausdruck die Champagner-Schule des 13. Jahrhunderts widerspiegelt. Die Türme der Kathedrale befinden sich im Herzen der Stadt und erheben sich über die Dächer von Reims bis zu einer Höhe von 81 m. Das Kirchenschiff, dessen dreistöckiges Design für die Bauzeit charakteristisch ist, hat eine etwa 38 m hohe gewölbte Decke. Die Kathedrale ist fast 150 m lang. Die Kathedrale zeichnet sich auch durch ihre Leuchtkraft aus und ist damit ein Vorbild für dieses Genre im gotischen Europa.
