Und doch ist das West Cork Hotel aufgrund seiner zentralen Lage ideal gelegen, um all das zu nutzen, was das wunderschöne Skibbereen (Sciobairin; „kleiner Bootshafen“) zu bieten hat: preisgekrönte Fischrestaurants, lebhafte Pubs mit traditioneller Musik, ein französischer Chocolatier, geschäftige Bauernmärkte. Das West Cork Hotel ist ein idealer Ausgangspunkt für alle, die Irlands wohl malerischste und unberührteste Küste erkunden möchten. Es hat sich unter anderem bei Paaren auf romantischen Kurzurlauben, Familien, die Spaß haben wollen, Hochzeitsplaner, Konferenzorganisatoren... Kurz gesagt, für alle, die ein komfortables, freundliches und erschwingliches Reiseziel suchen, das das Beste aus Alt und Neu erfolgreich kombiniert. Das 1902 gegründete Hotel war 104 Jahre im Besitz der Familie Murphy und wurde von ihr betrieben. Im Jahr 2006 wurde es von Tim und Marion Looney aus Skibbereen übernommen, die sich verpflichtet haben, das Ethos des Hotels der altmodischen Gastfreundschaft und des Werts fortzusetzen.
