Lincolns Haus in der Innenstadt von Springfield hat sich seit seiner Eröffnung im Jahr 1887 für Besucher als unwiderstehlich erwiesen. Das 1839 erbaute und wunderschön restaurierte Haus im Stil der griechischen Wiedergeburt mit 12 Zimmern war 17 Jahre lang das Zuhause von Abraham und Mary Lincoln.
Heute zieht das Haus der Lincolns jedes Jahr Hunderttausende von Besuchern an. Der Eintritt zur Besichtigung des Hauses ist kostenlos, aber die Tickets werden nach dem Prinzip „Wer zuerst kommt, mahlt zuerst“ ausgestellt und sind oft schnell ausgebucht. Jede Tour ist auf 15 Personen begrenzt. Holen Sie sich im Lincoln Home Visitor Center ein Ticket für die 20-25-minütige Tour durch das Haus. Die erste Tour des Tages beginnt um 9 Uhr, die letzte Tour beginnt um 16:30 Uhr.
Die von Rangern geführte Tour befasst sich mit der Familie Lincoln in den siebzehn Jahren, in denen sie in dem Haus an der Ecke Eighth Street und Jackson Street lebten. Abraham Lincolns Aufstieg zum erfolgreichen Anwalt und Politiker sowie sein Präsidentschaftswahlkampf 1860 werden ebenfalls untersucht.

Das Museum zeigt viele inspirierende Ausstellungen über Lincolns Leben. Besucher sind beeindruckt von der Treasures Gallery des Museums, die eine wechselnde Ausstellung der wertvollsten Artefakte im Zusammenhang mit Abraham Lincoln zeigt. Mary Todd Lincoln: First Lady of Controversary zeigte Dutzende von Artefakten — Kleidung, Schmuck, Fotos und Briefe —, die sich auf Mary Lincolns Ehe, ihre Rolle als First Lady der Vereinigten Staaten und die emotionale und mentale Belastung beziehen, die sie nach der Ermordung ihres Mannes, dem Tod ihres Sohnes Willie und ihrer Entfremdung von ihrem ältesten Sohn Robert erlebte.
Im Museum gibt es so viel zu sehen, dass viele Besucher zurückkehren, um einige Teile neu zu erleben und Bereiche kennenzulernen, die sie möglicherweise übersehen haben. A few words from the man himself…
Growing up in an Italian-American household, food was always front and center in all family gatherings. I found myself in the kitchen during any family event and have fond memories watching as my mother made sauce, my grandmother made meatballs, and my aunts made cookies. As I got older it became obvious to me that my passion and future profession would be cooking in one capacity or another. I started my training with Inspiration Kitchens in Chicago, followed by stints in my uncle's hot dog stand Mandino's located in Twin Lakes, Wisconsin. Eventually, I formalized my training in some of Chicago's most beloved restaurants with names such as Publican Quality Meats, Au Cheval, Formento's, and Table Donkey and Stick. While fine-dining kitchens help sharpen my skills, my Italian/American roots were calling. Nothing made me want to make my mark on this industry quite like pizza.

Yes, Hilton is committed to reducing waste across our portfolio. All of our hotels were required to remove plastic straws, stir sticks and cocktail picks in 2019, and we are currently transitioning from individual bath toiletries to full-size dispensers.
