Das Weiße Haus ist der offizielle Wohnsitz und Hauptarbeitsplatz des Präsidenten der Vereinigten Staaten. Es befindet sich an der 1600 Pennsylvania Avenue NW in Washington, D.C., wurde zwischen 1792 und 1800 aus weiß gestrichenem Aquia-Sandstein im spätgeorgianischen Stil erbaut und ist seit John Adams die Exekutivresidenz aller US-Präsidenten. Als Thomas Jefferson 1801 in das Haus einzog, erweiterte er (zusammen mit dem Architekten Benjamin Henry Latrobe) das Gebäude nach außen und schuf zwei Kolonnaden, die Ställe und Lagerräume verbergen sollten.
