With 265 beautifully appointed bedrooms, including 21 suites, The Shelbourne combines period grandeur with modern comfort. Many of our rooms and suites reflect the heritage of the building while offering the elevated amenities expected of a luxury five-star hotel in the heart of Dublin. The hotel holds a unique place in Irish history as the birthplace of the nation’s constitution. In 1922, the Irish Constitution was drafted and signed within the hotel, in what is now known as the Constitution Room — a beautifully preserved space that continues to host meetings, private events and gatherings today. This rich legacy adds a profound sense of place and significance to every occasion held within the hotel’s walls. At the centre of The Shelbourne’s event offering is the majestic Great Room — a spectacular ballroom capable of hosting up to 348 guests on rounds. Rich in original architectural detail, adorned with silk wall coverings and supported by state-of-the-art lighting and audio-visual technology, it provides a breathtaking backdrop for gala dinners, conferences and celebrations. Elegant pre-function spaces create the perfect flow for cocktails and private receptions. On the first floor, nine historic meeting rooms overlook St. Stephen’s Green, each with its own distinctive character and story. These spaces seamlessly blend classic design with modern technology, offering high-speed internet and advanced audio-visual capabilities to ensure a flawless experience for corporate and social events alike. Whether hosting an intimate private dinner or a large-scale conference, our dedicated team brings creativity, precision and attention to detail to ensure every occasion is truly memorable. The Shelbourne is equally celebrated for its culinary experiences. The Lord Mayor’s Lounge is home to the iconic Shelbourne Afternoon Tea, a cherished Dublin tradition. No. 27 The Shelbourne Bar offers a vibrant yet sophisticated atmosphere, while the historic Horseshoe Bar remains one of the city’s most recognisable meeting points. The Saddle Room presents a refined interpretation of the traditional grill room, complete with an open kitchen and oyster bar, and The 1824 blends classic lounge comforts with the flair of a stylish cocktail bar. Our outdoor terrace and mezzanine-level courtyard provide a relaxed, garden-inspired setting for year-round enjoyment. As part of our continued commitment to excellence, The Shelbourne will embark on a significant enhancement program from June 2026 to May 2027. During this time, a phased refurbishment of 226 guestrooms within the Queen, Deluxe and Heritage Premium categories will take place. Our Heritage Parkview Rooms and Heritage Suites will remain fully available throughout the project. The hotel will remain open, and while some intermittent noise will occur, every effort will be made to minimise disruption and maintain the highest standards of guest comfort. In addition to the guestroom refurbishment, improvements will be made to selected public areas. Please note the following scheduled closures: • Steam room and sauna: closed now through May 2027 • Swimming pool: closed June 2026 through May 2027 • The Saddle Room Restaurant: closed during Q1 2027 We will continue to provide updates as further details are confirmed and remain committed to delivering the exceptional service and experience for which The Shelbourne is renowned.
