Both venues have developed our Greenhouse Gas Reduction Plan to reduce our venue emissions. The Edmonton Convention Centre is Zero Waste certified, and the Edmonton EXPO Centre is on its journey to become Zero Waste certified. Both venues operate with a comprehensive waste management program in space to reduce event waste through waste management streams and divert waste from landfill. We’ve partnered with over 40 community groups and non-profits to give second life to leftover event materials.

Yes. Cleaning and disinfecting practices at Explore Edmonton were developed in alignment with guidance from both public health authorities and industry-leading organizations. This includes standards and recommendations from Alberta Health Services, as well as protocols established by Global Biorisk Advisory Council (GBAC). In addition, our approach incorporates best practices outlined in Building Owners and Managers Association Green Cleaning standards to support both health and environmental sustainability.
Yes. Explore Edmonton actively cleans and sanitizes all public and publicly accessible areas, including meeting rooms, food service areas (such as food courts and café spaces), elevator banks, escalators, and railings. Our process begins with mechanical cleaning methods using approved cleaning chemicals and microfiber cloths to remove soil and debris. This is followed by the application of disinfectant products that are approved for both sanitizing and disinfection, ensuring high-touch and high-traffic surfaces are effectively treated. These practices are aligned with guidance from Alberta Health Services and industry standards such as Global Biorisk Advisory Council and Building Owners and Managers Association Green Cleaning protocols.
