The InterContinental Century City Chengdu stands out as an exciting new landmark in the capital of Sichuan province. Serving as an ideal venue for the business traveller in Chengdu, the hotel is within walking distance of the Chengdu International Exhibition Centre and a 20-minute drive from the airport. InterContinental specializes in pairing ideal meeting venues with impeccable service. The Convention Centre, operated by InterContinental Century City Chengdu, offers a wide variety of exclusive venues for meetings, conferences and private functions. There are 24 multi-purpose meeting rooms of varying sizes, each utilizing the latest presentation technology. The Crystal ballroom, with its 2,800 square meters, is the largest pillar-less ballroom in western China. It can accommodate up to 2,700 people and also be divided into 6 convenient venues to suit various group needs. Rounding out our facility services is our dedicated banquet and technical support team. Each team member is expertly trained to provide a one-stop service, ensuring your event is a true success.

In 2006, after six years of construction, Jinsha Site Museum was finally completed. Covering a total area of about 38,000 square meters (9 acres), it mainly consists of Relics Hall, Exhibition Hall, Cultural Heritage Protection Center and Ecological Garden. It is a rare site museum among Chinese museums because of its combination of modern civilization and the civilization of ancient Shu State (Sichuan Province was called Shu State in ancient times), as well as the combination of ecological environment and culture. Jinsha Site Museum is built to protect, study and display the archaeological finds of Jinsha Site, which was discovered by archaeologists in February 2001. Covering an area of about five square kilometers (1,236 acres), Jinsha Site probably dates back to about 3,000 years ago, the time from the late Shang Dynasty (17th-11th century BC) to the early Spring and Autumn Period (770 BC-476 BC). It is the core of Shang and Zhou Dynasty (17th century BC-221 BC) and the second ancient city of Shu State found only after the Three-Star Piles Museum. Altogether 63 sacrificial spots, 6,000 pieces of precious relics, over 70 building spots and 3 centralized cemeteries were unearthed here.

The Chengdu Research Base of Giant Panda Breeding (hereafter Chengdu Panda Base) is a non-profit organization engaged in wildlife research, captive breeding, conservation education, and educational tourism. The Chengdu Panda Base was founded in 1987, with six giant pandas rescued from the wild. Today (2008) our captive population has increased to 83 individuals from that founding population of only six. Genetic diversity in the population is sustained by the exchange of preserved genetic material with other facilities. We are very proud that we have not taken any giant pandas from the wild for 20 years. This demonstrates our unique and uncompromising commitment to the conservation of the wild ( in situ ) population and the healthy growth of the captive ( ex situ ) population. Due to our research and commitment to animal health and welfare, 124 giant panda cubs have been born to our Base in 85 litters, 88 survived and now we have 83. To assist other institutions holding giant pandas we provide technical support and send our experts to assist with care, rearing, and breeding. So that all giant panda researchers can share their knowledge, we host the Giant Panda Annual Technical Meeting, inviting researchers from all over the world to share information to improve captive management for the conservation of giant pandas. The Chengdu Panda Base covers an area of 106 hectares and will be enlarged to 200 hectares during the third phase of our expansion. Red pandas, golden monkeys and other wild and/or endangered species live and breed here.
