Durango has been a bustling railroad town since the 1880s and today you can still ride the historic steam train from downtown, just a short drive from the Super 8, through the beautiful San Juan Mountains, to the quaint mining town of Silverton. If you are looking for a little more excitement, you can swoosh down the slopes of the nearby Durango Mountain ski resort in the winter, raft the raging Animas River during the spring snow melt, or golf in the lushness of a high mountain summer at the famous Hillcrest golf course. You can finish your day by enjoying a delicious meal in any of the town's excellent restaurants and then return to your comfortable room for a good nights rest. The next morning, to speed you on your way, we provide coffee makers in all our rooms so that you can have your first cup as soon as you wake up.
