Frederick Cellars

221 N. East Street, Frederick, MD, USA, 21701

About us

Frederick Cellars is located in a wonderful old brick warehouse, originally built in 1904 as the Crystal Ice House. Our winery has seen many uses over the years; still, we’re pretty confident in saying this is the first time it’s been a winery. A former building tenant—we won’t name names—says it’s haunted. Time will tell. Through a century, it’s undoubtedly seen many souls come and go. If it is haunted, we’re hoping for amiable ghosts who can appreciate a fine Cabernet

Mountain Creek Vineyards is located in Middletown, on a south-facing slope that backs up to South Mountain. This mature vineyard was originally planted in 1992 using grafted cuttings from premier Napa Valley wineries. Since that time, it has lived up to its heritage by consistently producing award-winning Cabernet Sauvignons. Frederick Cellars’ Wine Master, Robert Lyon, believes the gravelly, rocky soils of Mountain Creek Vineyards and Frederick County in general gives these grapes boldness and character. In fact, the potential of this grape-growing area was recognized over 20 years ago when it was designated as the Catoctin AVA, an officially recognized American Viticultural Appellation.
