Although the Viper Room is no longer owned by actor Johnny Depp, the West Hollywood nightclub remains a popular destination on the Sunset Strip for both live-music fans and starstruck tourists alike. Depp and his partners took over the longtime bar the Central in 1993, refurbishing it with a sleek, black interior, and renamed it the Viper Room. When it first opened, the club pulled in many of Depp's celebrity pals, ranging from Tom Petty & the Heartbreakers and Counting Crows (whose singer, Adam Duritz, briefly toiled as its bartender) to Cher, Jennifer Aniston, and the Pogues' Shane Macgowan. There are still occasional celebrity sightings at the Viper Room, which is currently owned by Pink Taco CEO Harry Morton, but the club is now more of a hangout for indie and hard-rock bands. When it gets too crowded in the upstairs main room, clubgoers can repair to the more-intimate downstairs lounge, where acoustic singer-songwriters strum and warble confessional ballads. Both rooms feature full bars. Ages 21 & over.

Soho House was founded in London in 1995 as a home from home for people working in creative fields. There are Houses located in the UK, Berlin, Istanbul, Barcelona, New York, West Hollywood, Miami, Chicago and Toronto. Unlike other members’ clubs, which often focus on wealth and status, we aim to assemble communities of members that have something in common: namely, a creative soul. The majority of our members work in traditional creative industries, with the film, fashion, advertising, music, art and media sectors, among others, heavily represented. We offer four types of membership: Local House, Every House, Under 27 Local House, and Under 27 Every House. Local membership gives you access to all club spaces and facilities at Soho House West Hollywood. Every House membership provides access to all of Soho House’s Every House clubs around the world.

The Formosa Cafe
West Hollywood
The Formosa first opened its doors IN LOS ANGELES in 1939: making its new debut in its 80th year. Located across from the then-Samuel Goldwyn studio, stars like Frank Sinatra, Humphrey Bogart, James Dean, and Elvis Presley would pop into the legendary Formosa Cafe regularly for dining and drinks. On any given day, patrons might have seen Ava Gardner dancing past the old, red leather booths, or John Wayne nursing a late-night scotch (he was caught making scrambled eggs in our kitchen one morning, after reportedly passing out in a booth the night before).
Among the interior design restorations is the full reveal of the iconic and original red trolley car, dating back to 1904 and is confirmed to be the oldest surviving red train car in existence. Boxes of autographed celebrity photos and storage units of original memorabilia have made their way back into the Cafe.
