About us

Fumba Beach Lodge is on one of Zanzibar’s most secluded beaches. Set on forty acres of the Menai beach conservation area, Fumba beach peninsula is both a large marine haven, and an eco-project. Fumba Beach Lodge offers well-designed elegance, with friendly first class service. Just 30 minutes from the capital, Stone Town, the lodge is away from busy tourist areas, a perfect venue for enjoying tranquility, and the space to dream, swim, dive, walk amongst tropical gardens, or have that special romantic occasion in one of the many secluded spots. Set in forty acres of exquisite wilderness: tropical forests, secluded protected beaches, there are twenty six spacious ensuite rooms; twenty are deluxe ‘bandas’, terrace, stunning ocean view, suitable for families or couples. Four are luxury suites, and there are two baobab suites. Weddings can be held in all sorts or exotic locations: Some couples choose to take their vows within the lodge, or on our beach. Others have chosen to sail with a dhow to an island for a ceremony on an Indian Ocean beach. We know many special places, and together with you we will dream up something unforgettable.

The only way to find out about it was via word of mouth. No address was given, the only clue being a sign placed in the window, “Cocktails Here”. A lot of people thought it was pretty cool, even before The New York Times wrote about it. But that was all pre-pandemic, and this is a new era.
