La antigua ciudad hanseática de Fráncfort, en el Oder, bien merece una visita. Los imponentes edificios históricos del gótico de ladrillo del norte de Alemania dan testimonio de su magnífico pasado, como el ayuntamiento o la iglesia de Santa María, con sus coloridas y luminosas pinturas en vidrio, una representación detallada de la historia bíblica, la famosa Biblia ilustrada. La sala de conciertos «Carl Philipp Emanuel Bach», una antigua iglesia franciscana, es, entre otras, la sede de la Orquesta Estatal de Brandeburgo y de la «Singakademie» (coro). Desde 1999, Fráncfort lleva el título de «Ciudad Kleist»: aquí nació el poeta, aquí estudió y aquí se estableció el centro de investigación y monumento a Kleist. Pero Fráncfort tiene más museos que vale la pena visitar: por ejemplo, el Museo Viadrina o el Museo Junge Kunst (arte joven). La ciudad se enorgullece de su restablecida Europa Universität Viadrina (1992): actualmente jóvenes de 78 países diferentes estudian aquí. Fráncfort es una ciudad deportiva, muchos medallistas olímpicos, mundiales y europeos son de aquí. Frankfurt es una ciudad muy «verde», con muchos parques antiguos hermosos, que bien vale la pena visitarla. Y por último, pero no por ello menos importante: Fráncfort se está convirtiendo en una ciudad solar.
