Las salas de reuniones de Alton fueron diseñadas, construidas y finalmente terminadas en 1880 por Charles E Barry, y son uno de los tres edificios que forman Crown Close. Tras una interesante historia temprana, que incluyó su uso como hospital de la Cruz Roja, finalmente pasaron a ser propiedad del Ayuntamiento.
