La Lagoa dos Salgados es un pequeño humedal costero ubicado entre Armação de Pêra y Albufeira, conocido por su notable riqueza ornitológica. Es uno de los lugares más fascinantes del Algarve para la observación de aves. Allí se encuentran más de 150 especies al año, algunas de las cuales son raras y muy sensibles. Está clasificada como área importante para las aves (IBA), un estatus otorgado por la Sociedad Portuguesa para el Estudio de las Aves /BirdLife International, y está a la espera de ser declarada Reserva Natural, según un proyecto propuesto por el Instituto para la Conservación de la Naturaleza y los Bosques. Entre las especies de aves que se observan con mayor regularidad en esta área se encuentran el aguilucho lagunero occidental, el halcón común, la espátula euroasiática, el aguijón de cola negra y la garza morada, entre muchas otras. El área también tiene un importante valor botánico, ya que es uno de los lugares más importantes para la presencia de la especie endémica Linaria algarviana.
