Situated on a golf course, Hotel Hamar is a relaxing retreat with a focus on leisure pursuits. In the West of the country, it’s surrounded by a host of natural beauty and fascinating attractions but is just an hour’s drive from Reykjavik. On an 18-hole golf course, Hotel Hamar is situated in the beautiful West of Iceland. Its breathtaking scenery provides a tranquil and Heavenly setting for this leisurely retreat, far away from the hassles of busy life. However, what can be found nearby are such delights as waters and glaciers, with the Snaefellsnes peninsula in easy reach. Each of the 30 guestrooms are decorated to a high standard & offer all the amenities you would expect. With two conference rooms and a smaller, more intimate room, Hotel Hamar is a great location for a meeting. To make way for gatherings of up to 100 persons, there’s even the option of removing a partition between the hotel’s dining room and the larger conference room and hosting a bigger event. In two of Borgarnes’s oldest buildings The Settlement Center is devoted to recreating Iceland’s earliest days and introduces visitors to one of the best known heroes of the Icelandic Sagas, Egil Skalla-Grimsson. It also houses a cozy licensed restaurant, a café and a souvenir shop. The Center consists of three buildings, the warehouse, the merchant house and the reception hall.

Hamarsvöllur, or Hamar Golf Course in English, is one of the best 18-hole golf courses in Iceland and is the only Golf Resort in the country. The course is located on the site of an old farm, which now serves as its clubhouse and as a guest house called Hviti Baerinn, the White Farm. Icelandair Hotel Hamar is located right by the green of the eighth hole. Water hazards are found in multiple places across the course, with hole 16 being entirely surrounded by water. Visitors can book a tee time on www.golf.is or directly at the clubhouse.
