Como una de las ciudades más antiguas del país, con más de 2.000 años, Braga combina lo tradicional y lo moderno a la perfección, proporcionando un viaje a través de la historia y la arquitectura de varias épocas. En esta ciudad del norte de Portugal, el corazón de la región del Miño, se pueden observar restos de la época romana (cuando se llamaba Bracara Augusta, en honor al emperador Augusto). Pero también se puede visitar la primera catedral del país, que se mandó construir en el siglo XII. O visite el estadio municipal de Braga, diseñado por Eduardo Souto Moura, un arquitecto galardonado con el Premio Pritzker en 2011. Una ciudad indispensable en la ruta del turismo religioso (es imprescindible subir a Bom Jesus do Monte a pie, para los más valientes, o tomando el pintoresco funicular de 1882, el primero de la Península Ibérica), Braga es famosa por sus numerosas iglesias y santuarios, por su arte religioso, por su inspiración barroca y su centro histórico. Llena de vida durante todo el año, esta ciudad conserva un espíritu joven y vibrante, gracias al ambiente estudiantil, al centro universitario y a su vitalidad tecnológica; de hecho, aquí es donde se encuentra el Laboratorio Ibérico de Nanotecnología. Por no hablar de su riqueza cultural, los innumerables eventos anuales y la gastronomía local, en particular las frigideiras (minitartas de hojaldre de carne), el bacalao a la braga, las papas de Sarrabulho (guiso de cerdo desmenuzado con salsa de sangre cuajada), el cabrito asado, el pudín de abade de Priscos o las irresistibles galletas Fidalguinhos. Dedicada a la historia de los conventos y a la fundación de Portugal, esta unidad integra el concepto de Colección, que se distingue por su servicio de calidad. La colección Vila Galé Braga nace de la rehabilitación del antiguo hospital de São Marcos, un edificio de interés público que data de 1508 y construido donde antes había una ermita dedicada a São Marcos, un albergue y un convento templario. Respetando el lado histórico y arquitectónico del edificio, este hotel mantiene la estructura existente y recupera elementos como los techos abovedados originales.
