Bonar Hall se construyó en 1977 para servir a la Universidad de Dundee y a la gente de Dundee y el distrito. La sala lleva el nombre de Sir Herbert Bonar, miembro de una conocida familia de fabricantes de yute de Escocia, que financió el edificio.
