Ubicada en el corazón del centro histórico de esta ciudad alentejana, reconocida como Patrimonio de la Humanidad por la UNESCO, esta unidad hotelera, que es el resultado de la rehabilitación del antiguo convento de São Paulo, tiene como tema las fortificaciones militares portuguesas esparcidas por todo el mundo. Utilizando la configuración original del edificio, que tras la extinción de las órdenes religiosas dejó de ser un convento y funcionó como tribunal militar, cuartel y centro de detención, este hotel cuenta con 79 habitaciones (incluidas siete suites en el entresuelo de dos pisos), dos restaurantes con una oferta gastronómica regional dedicada a los sabores locales, bar, piscina al aire libre, spa con salas de masajes, piscina de hidromasaje, baño turco, sauna y piscina cubierta y, finalmente, el claustro, de nuevo en verde y fijo, dos salas de reuniones y un salón de eventos que se encuentra en el área de la antigua iglesia, y es ideal para celebrar bodas y bautizos. El Vila Galé Collection Elvas - Historic Hotel, Conference & Spa es el primer hotel de Portugal que se ha completado en el marco de Revive, el programa público para la concesión y recuperación del patrimonio histórico.

Para conocer Elvas, además de pasear por las calles del centro histórico, te sugerimos visitar el Museo de Arte Contemporáneo, el Museo Militar de Elvas, el Fuerte de Graça y el Fuerte de Santa Luzia, la iglesia de Nossa Senhora da Assunção (Nuestra Señora de la Asunción) o la antigua catedral, cerca de la Casa de la Cultura. Pero tampoco debes perderte el castillo, así como las murallas del siglo XVII y la iglesia octogonal de las monjas dominicas, y la zona de la Picota. En las cercanías, puede visitar el Museo de los Cristos en Sousel o visitar las ciudades de Mérida o Cáceres, ambas también clasificadas como Patrimonio de la Humanidad por la UNESCO.
