El muelle flotante, llamado «Landungsbrücken» (embarcaderos), tiene 700 metros de largo. Desde esta «estación» acuática salen excursiones por el puerto y los vapores HADAG que van a Finkenwerder, Oevelgönne y Blankenese. Impresionantes cruceros de lujo también atracan aquí de vez en cuando.
De pie aquí, con el agua por un lado y, por el otro, coloridas tiendas de recuerdos con recuerdos frente al mar y pintorescos restaurantes de pescado con solla recién cortada o camarones del Mar del Norte, es fácil olvidar que estás caminando sobre una plataforma flotante. Los primeros pontones se construyeron en 1839 y servían como muelles para los barcos de vapor porque aquí se podía almacenar el carbón que necesitaban para sus motores. Del mismo modo, el incendio de las calderas, como peligro potencial, se mantuvo alejado del puerto propiamente dicho.
