Además del ATC, EMBL continúa operando sus instalaciones para conferencias en el edificio principal, incluidas las salas de seminarios de varios tamaños y el auditorio Operon, con capacidad para 300 personas. Sin embargo, estas instalaciones se utilizan generalmente para fines internos y solo se pueden usar de manera excepcional para satisfacer las necesidades específicas de los organizadores de eventos. En el edificio principal, EMBL generalmente alberga todos sus eventos internos. Hay varias salas de varios tamaños disponibles, desde pequeñas salas de reuniones para grupos pequeños hasta la gran sala de conferencias Operon, que tiene capacidad para hasta 300 personas y se puede dividir en una sala de seminarios para 100 y 200 personas.
