South Sarawak is usually the first stop for convention visitors. The region offers a huge variety of facilities, activities and experiences. Sibu is appropriately the home of the Borneo Cultural Festival, and guests can enjoy the riverfront atmosphere and the lively coffee shops, and visit the Iban longhouses at Bawang Assan.North Sarawak has some of the most stunning natural attractions in Malaysia, as well as bustling modern cities and sleepy riverside towns. Centred on Miri, the former oil-town that is rapidly transforming itself to a resort city, the region is also Sarawak's industrial powerhouse, fuelled by the gas and petroleum operations based in Bintulu. Both Miri and Bintulu have a good selection of international class hotels with extensive conference facilities.
