Oslo's Opera House is located right at the harbour, with an angled, white exterior that appears to rise from the water. It invites its visitors to climb its roof and enjoy panoramic views of Oslo and the fjord, all year round. Large-scale windows at street level provide the public with glimpses of rehearsals and workshop activities. The opera is designed by the Norwegian architecture firm Snøhetta, and has received several prestigious awards. Astrup Fearnley Museet
Museo
12 min
Astrup Fearnley Museum is home to the Astrup Fearnley Collection, a collection of modern and contemporary art counted among the most significant of its kind in Northern Europe. It focuses on acquiring individual, ground-breaking works. Young American artists used to dominate, but significant voices from Europe, Brazil, Japan, China, and India are now included. The museum complements works from the permanent collection by rotating exhibitions with internationally renowned artists. The museum building from 2012 is designed by Italian architect Renzo Piano, known for masterpieces like Centre Georges Pompidou, Parco della Musica, and The New York Times Building. It is made up of three pavilions that reside under one distinctive glass roof, which is shaped like a sail. The building nods to its maritime surroundings in other ways as well: cable rigged steel columns mirror the masts of the sailboats in the harbour close by, while the building's silver grey cladding bears witness to seaside weather exposure. - See more at: http://www.visitoslo.com/en/activities-and-attractions/attractions/?TLp=183910&Astrup-Fearnley-Museet#sthash.KpwIs1F1.dpuf
