One of the most photogenic cities in the Mediterranean has retained its unmatched charm. In Piran, you will feel like you are walking through a painting. You will be stunned by the narrow streets inside the old walls. In the central square, you will be greeted by a statute of the most famous inhabitant of Piran. The renowned composer and virtuoso violinist, Giuseppe Tartini, was born right next to it. At the pier, you will see a fisherman untangling his fishing net. A Piran farmer woman will have just brought her produce to the Farmer’s Vegetable market by the time you arrive. The locals, sitting by the sea and chatting in the murmur of the waves, will nod to you.

Piran’s palaces, squares and alleys are so enchanting mostly thanks to the salt from the previously numerous salt pans in the city’s vicinity. It played an important role and was the central source of wealth in Piran’s diverse history. To date, a part of the Strunjan salt pans has been retained, while the Sečovlje salt pans still maintain traditional salt production and thus preserve their special quality. The view of the picturesque salt fields is very beautiful. You can also experience and visit the salt pans and the salt festival in person. The quality name of Piran salt is widely known even today. Do not be surprised if you see it on the shelves of a prestigious store in one of the great European cities.
