Los jardines botánicos de Sheffield cubren 19 acres y se inauguraron por primera vez en 1836. Los jardines se han restaurado por completo recientemente con un coste de aproximadamente 6,69 millones de libras esterlinas y son los únicos jardines botánicos del país que han llevado a cabo una restauración tan completa. Para acceder al generoso premio del Heritage Lottery Fund de 5,06 millones de libras esterlinas, se recaudó un 25% adicional en fondos equivalentes. Los jardines son el único espacio público abierto del país en el que el sector voluntario ha recaudado más de 1 millón de libras esterlinas en financiación complementaria. El personal de los jardines y los voluntarios de FOBS continúan desarrollando las plantaciones en todos los jardines. En el futuro, se llevarán a cabo proyectos adicionales para mejorar aún más los Jardines como un centro de excelencia hortícola.
