Its construction and arrangement began in 1884 and it is named after Bulgarian Tsar Boris III. The history of the garden embraces three periods under three renowned gardeners. All followed the initial scheme, developing it further and perfecting it instead of making radical changes to the original design.

Built within the remains of the ancient town of Serdika, the St. George Rotunda has stood since the 4th century when the Romans constructed it. It is known for its frescoes dating back to the 12th century which were only recently discovered in the 20th century. The St. George Rotunda is a beautiful example of medieval frescoes which exemplify the art that can be found within the churches of Sofia.

The Church of Saint Nicholas the Miracle-Maker, or the Russian Church as it is more commonly known, is located in central Sofia. It was built in 1907 on the site of a previous Saray Mosque which had been destroyed in 1882 after the Ottoman Empire was expelled from Bulgaria by the Russians. The church is well-known for its ability to grant wishes and thus earned the name ‘Miracle-Maker’. It has five golden domes and the bells were donated by Tsar Nicholas II during its construction.

Founded in 1973, the National History Museum is Bulgaria’s largest museum. The location of the museum moved in 2000 to the former residence of the last Communist leader of Bulgaria in Boyana. The museum is known for its archaeological treasures and collection of fine arts through which visitors can explore the rich culture and history of Bulgaria through the years. The collection is vast and only 10% of it is permanently displayed.

Vitosha Boulevard is the main commercial street in the centre of Sofia, the capital of Bulgaria, which is abundant in posh stores, restaurants and bars. It extends from the St Nedelya Square to the Southern Park. Many high-end fashion labels have outlets on Vitosha boulevard and the neighbouring streets: Versace, Escada, Bulgari, D&G, La Perla, Lacoste, Van Laak, Ermenegildo Zegna, Tru Trussardi, Moreschi, Marella, Max Mara, Gianfranco Ferré, Emporio Armani, Tommy Hilfiger, Boss, Baldinini. Among the notable buildings, located on the boulevard are: The National Palace of Culture, The Palace of the Courts, the house where the famous Bulgarian poet Peyo Yavorov lived and died. The corner of Vitosha and Patriarch Eftimii boulevards, so called the Pharmacy (Аптека), is a popular place for meetings. The boulevard is named after Vitosha, the mountain just next to Sofia. It was an unadjusted street during the Ottoman rule of Bulgaria and acquired the name Vitoshka ulitsa ("Vitosha Street") after the Liberation, in 1883. The street was initially built up with low one-storey houses, but turned into an imposing trade street in the Interwar period as massive public buildings were constructed, changing Vitoshka's appearance completely.
