More

The Fleece Inn is a pub steeped in history, originally built in the early 15th century by a famer named Byrd, the pub remained in the ownership of the same family until 1977. The last of the descendants was Miss Lola Taplin, a formidable character remembered by many of the locals, Lola bequeathed the pub to the National Trust when she died in 1977. It remains largely unchanged, although it now serves delicious pub grub and most famously pays homage to the locally grown vegetable Asparagus during May and June. During the winter months traditional English favourites feature largely on the menu such as Sausage and Mash or locally made Faggots. When the summer months roll around the seasonally changed menu features popular choices such as traditional Ploughmans and the legendary Fleece Inn burger. The Inn has held a civil ceremony license for the past 7 years and is becoming an ever more popular venue for wedding celebrations. Nestled in the rural village of Bretforton the location is perfect for your special day. With ever growing experience in catering for weddings of varying sizes, styles and budgets we pride ourselves on offering something for everyone. From the traditional to the more laid back the mediaeval thatched barn lends itself to either, this unique venue will certainly impress your guests! The grounds of the Fleece are ideal for summer weddings; the apple orchard and well groomed garden are the perfect setting for those all important photographs and a lovely place to enjoy reception drinks with your guests. During the cooler months the open fire basket and tree lights are an enchanting sight. The barn itself is a unique and intimate venue for your ceremony, the hops that line the timber beams are intertwined with lights, a truly magical setting for such a special occasion. The transformation post ceremony for your wedding breakfast and reception is outstanding.
