Entre la cathédrale gothique d'Évora et le temple romain, passer la nuit à la Pousada de Évora, le couvent de Loios, c'est visiter un passé lointain et avoir le privilège de revivre l'histoire de chaque pierre, de chaque objet, y compris les cabines simples et rudimentaires des anciens dortoirs des chanoines réguliers, aujourd'hui transformés en chambres à la décoration affable. Les remparts de la ville d'Évora, classés au patrimoine de l'humanité par l'UNESCO, cachent dans leurs intérieurs l'une des plus belles Pousadas du Portugal. Ce luxueux hôtel d'Évora se trouve dans le centre historique de la ville, entre la cathédrale gothique d'Évora et le temple de Diane. Vous constaterez ici que l'histoire, la finesse et le luxe sont les vecteurs qui ont donné naissance à ce majestueux hôtel. Les 36 chambres qui composent cette unité sont presque toutes différentes avec leurs propres caractéristiques. D'autre part, elles comprennent toutes des meubles en bois, un minibar, un bureau et une salle de bain privative avec baignoire et douche. Au rez-de-chaussée, vous trouverez des œuvres d'art de grande valeur, ainsi que les salons, le bar et le restaurant. Le bâtiment a conservé des vestiges de son architecture d'origine, tels que les clôtures des patios, un espace tranquille et paisible. Par temps chaud, vous pourrez vous rafraîchir au bord de la piscine extérieure de la Pousada. Au restaurant de la Pousada, vous pourrez déguster un assortiment de spécialités qui vous raviront certainement. Des filets d'aiguillat au ragoût d'agneau traditionnel de l'Alentejo, nous vous garantissons un voyage à travers la meilleure cuisine portugaise typique. Les clients de la Pousada de Évora peuvent également se promener dans le centre-ville en visitant la place Giraldo avec sa fontaine du XVIe siècle. La Pousada dispose également d'un parking gratuit à capacité limitée.

L'actuelle Pousada dos Loios était le monastère San João Evangelista ou monastère de Loios. Il a été fondé en 1487 par le 1er comte d'Olivença, D. Rodrigo Melo et construit sous licence par D. João II sur des terres où se trouvait autrefois une partie du château arabe d'Évora. Ce château était en ruine après avoir subi un incendie pendant la révolution de 1383-1885, à la suite de batailles ayant soutenu D. João, Maître d'Avis, qui devait monter sur le trône sous le nom de D. João I.
