The Britz Castle is also referred to as the ‘pearl of the district’ and got its shape around 1880 from its former owner. The facade was refurbished in a neo-renaissance style and a tower was added at the same time. The park behind the property was reconstructed in the style of the turn of the centuries. Today a museum can be found within the castle. In different rooms one can find a permanent exhibition on the subject of interior design during the German ‘Gründerzeit’. Additionally, there are different special exhibits, as well as concerts and readings of different artists organized frequently on an open-air stage. Located on the grounds of the former Tempelhof airport, Tempelhof Field is larger than New York's Central Park with over 300 hectares for bike riding, skating, kite flying, urban gardening, strolling or just doing your own thing. Located at the foot of a prominent national monument, there is an artificial waterfall which rushes down to the foot of the mountain at the confluence of Großbeerenstraße and Kreuzbergstraße. In Berlin vernacular, the park is usually referred to as being Kreuzberg. The history of the Viktoriapark began in 1821. On the elevated grounds of what had previously been called "Tempelhof Berg" or "Runder Weinberg,” Karl Friedrich Schinkel built a national monument commemorating the battles of the War of Liberation. At the foot of this monument, a simple park was created.
