Where the wind and the sea come together and enter the city El Peine del Viento (‘The Wind Comb’) is a collection of three steel sculptures each weighing over nine tonnes. These pieces have been positioned in the place where the city ends and the sea begins, where the waves embrace the stark escarpments of Monte Igeldo. Eduardo Chillida anchored the three sculptures to the rocks, so that the incoming wind would be continually ‘combed’ at La Concha Bay. This is a place where the wind and the sea beat together, whipping the rocks with a sense of abandon. Nature and art blend together and appear as one, and the positioning of the sculpture pieces makes them appear to emerge from the rocks themselves, almost as if they were a part of them.

CHILLIDA-LEKU is an outdoors museum that gathers the work of Eduardo Chillida (San Sebastián 1924-2002) in the properties of “Zabalaga farmhouse”, constructed in 1594 at the town of Hernani (Guipúzcoa-Spain). 10 kilometers far from San Sebastián, 40 sculptures of great format stand out on the ground of 12 hectares and a hundred small format works and drawings, created during 50 years of work, appear inside the restored farmhouse. In the same town in 1951, after his brief Parisian experience, Eduardo Chillida began his works in the forge of a blacksmith.

Built in the 19th century and opened in 1897, its ogival arch style takes its inspiration from medieval churches in Germany and France. Proof of this inspiration is the sharp needle crowning the church and earning it the title of “tallest building in San Sebastián". Particularly notable on its main facade is "The Cross of Peace", work of the sculptor Eduardo Chillida. Its 1,915 m² makes the Buen Pastor the biggest religious building in the city. The Cathedral was built with slate and stone from Monte Igeldo.
