Le Dôme de la bombe atomique a été inscrit au patrimoine mondial en tant que bâtiment qui communique la dévastation totale causée par les armes nucléaires en décembre 1996 lors de la 20e Convention du Comité du patrimoine mondial de l'UNESCO à Mérida. En tant que point de repère des ravages causés au moment des bombardements, il est un symbole de la devise « No More Hiroshimas ». Au fil des générations, elle est devenue un symbole de l'abolition des armes nucléaires et de l'importance d'une paix durable dans le monde entier.

Le château d'Hiroshima a été construit par Terumoto Mori en 1589 et désigné trésor national en 1931, mais il a ensuite été détruit par la bombe atomique. Il a été reconstruit en 1958. Aujourd'hui, c'est un musée d'histoire sur le thème de la culture samouraï.

Depuis le pont d'observation en plein air sur le toit, vous pouvez admirer le parc commémoratif de la paix et le dôme de la bombe atomique.
