"Built in the second half of the '500 on the remains of a Roman acropolis by the will of the Savelli family, was then renovated in 1661 by the will of Pope Alexander VII commissioning the works to Gian Lorenzo Bernini and Carlo Fontana from whom the Palace acquired its Baroque imprint. Today the Palazzo has become a museum and a centre of cultural activities, and inside there is also the Museum of the Roman Baroque. Over time it has been chosen also as a location for many films and TV series, including "The Leopard"" by Luchino Visconti. Outside we find the magnificent Park of the sixteenth century, rich of centuries-old specimens of the original vegetation of the area, but also of exotic plants imported by the Chigi, such as the American sequoias."

"Fulcrum of the Park are the remains of the ancient Latin city of Tusculum, built around the tenth century B.C. and founded according to legend by Telegono, mythical son of Odysseus and the sorceress Circe. Under the rule of Rome the city became the favorite seat of summer residences of emperors, senators and writers and Among the most famous villas, we remember that of Silla, Lucullus, Tiberius and Cicero, who wrote here his Tusculanae Disputationes. The tour route traces the ancient basolate streets and winds along the remains of the buildings of the forum, until you reach one of the oldest amphitheaters in Lazio built in the first half of the 1st century BC, which could accommodate up to 2,000 spectators. Other areas of archaeological interest are the great sanctuary extra-urban, the baths found at the entrance of the Park, the fortress with the medieval remains of the Palazzo dei Conti di Tuscolo and the Basilica dedicated to the SS Trinity. The Park also offers trekking lovers many paths surrounded by nature and the opportunity to have lunch in peace thanks to the area picnic he’s got.

"The territorial abbey of Santa Maria di Grottaferrata, also known as the Greek Abbey of San Nilo, is the only church Catholic Byzantine in Europe to still carry out the Greek Mass and following the Greek-Byzantine rite. It was founded in 1004 by the monk s. Nile from Rossano on the foundations of a villa that seems to have belonged to Cicero. It is a large complex monumental in Romanesque style with Byzantine influences enclosed by a Renaissance crenellated walls and flanked by a bell tower in Romanesque style with a facade adorned with a huge rose window. The interior, rich in works of art, was originally in Romanesque style and was covered in 1754 by a thick stucco cladding of baroque style, preserving over time this contrast between the different styles adopted. National monument since 1874, the Abbey also retains an important library heritage containing manuscripts in Greek, a restoration workshop of ancient texts and an archaeological and historical-artistic museum. "Extraterritorial zone under the government of Vatican City. The area where the villas and gardens are located, in particular the Gardens of Villa Barberini, is the ancient seat of one of the most sumptuous Roman villas, the Albanum Domitiani, built at the behest of Emperor Domitian (81-96 AD) and intended for private country residence. Following the disintegration of the Papal States in 1870, these wonderful places were abandoned for over sixty years and from 1932 the Palace and the Pontifical Villas became again the usual and privileged summer residence of the popes. The gardens of the three residences constitute the Park of the Pontifical Villas.
