Arucas occupe une superficie d'environ 13 miles carrés sur la face nord de Gran Canaria. Il va de la côte à ce que l'on appelle les « medianías », la terre située entre la côte et le pic district, à plus de 1 800 pieds au-dessus du niveau de la mer. L'Ayuntamiento de Arucas se trouve à environ 11 km et demi de la capitale de l'île, Las Palmas de Gran Canaria, le long de la route principale du nord. Il se trouve sur le versant sud de la montagne du même nom, un pic volcanique visible à des kilomètres à la ronde, dont la lave a atteint la côte pour former au nord une plate-forme en pente douce vers la mer.
