It was 29th September 1385 when Marquis Nicolò II gave permission to proceed for the construction of a mighty fortress commissioning the court engineer, Bartolino da Novara, with the work. It was St Michael's Day and the future castle was dedicated to the archangel.
A UNESCO heritage site, the Castello is fully immersed in water and today it can be visited, ground and first floor.

We continue the story and memories of our grandparents who taught us everything about our Sicilian and Neapolitan heritage. Growing up we understood our Italian heritage through them as people, their stories and by sharing, eating and cooking the dishes that they grew up with from their homeland and using the ingredients that our relatives would send to us in England from Sicily & Naples in small parcels.
When our grandparents left us, it reinforced as a family that what they taught and shared with us is a huge part of our cultural identity, and we could not risk that heritage disappearing. Who doesn’t enjoy traveling, movies, music, games, and room escape challenges? We figured if we’d have fun building and testing these Tourist Scavenger Hunts, you would also enjoy doing them. This new way of discovering a city via a walking tour with various challenges is a great way to learn about its history and discover its layout.
Simple And Fun
Each Tourist Scavenger Hunt is around 40 steps, 2-3 hours in duration on a 3-4km circuit which brings you back to the start.
