Ce littoral calcaire spectaculaire est formé de piliers marins, d'arches rocheuses fragiles et de grottes cachées, qui ont toutes été rasées par de violentes tempêtes hivernales. La Ponta da Piedade est un promontoire sombre et balayé par le vent. La beauté de la région ne se découvre qu'en descendant les falaises, où les falaises exposées révèlent leur couleur dorée et où les eaux turquoises de la mer recouvrent des formations rocheuses à l'équilibre précaire. Le promontoire ne peut être décrit que comme magnifique.
